If you’re looking for next level security then 3 lever locks and 5 lever locks are for you. Also known as sash locks or deadlocks, both are slightly different in functionality but equally as effective.
Deadlocks
Doors with deadlocks require a mortice lock and will only remain closed when locked by key. Deadlocks are extremely popular for additional security as top or bottom locks, but don’t worry, there's no need for multiple keys, simply choose the “keyed alike” option and we can provide a one key fits all system.
Sash Locks
sash locks include a latch as well as a mortice lock therefore when a door with sash locks is pushed closed it will remain closed as the latch (the triangular piece of metal on show that is operated by the handle) will then sit flush inside the frame.
5 Lever Locks
A 5 lever lock features five different levers and are often used on external doors. Many are insurance rated and insurance companies will ask if your home features 5 lever locks on your entrance doors. You can find out more about insurance rated locks and the British Standard Kitemark in our guide.
3 Lever Locks
A lock with 3 levers is often installed when less security is needed, usually for internal doors around the home like the bathroom.
